Friday morning’s formal ribbon cutting ceremony for the Bexar County Elections and Purchasing Building celebrated the coming together of two departments in one building. The new 40,573 square foot building was designed for both the elections and purchasing departments to share office and warehouse functions in one location.
The ceremony was led by Bexar County Judge, Nelson Wolff. Elections Administrator, Jacquelyn Callenen spoke about the process and development of the facility and what it means to the staff and to the community. Callanen spoke highly of the various groups that came together to make the building a possibility. WestEast was especially proud when she spoke directly of our own Oscar Parra and his initial research into different elections building around the country when working on the specific design for Bexar County.
After the speeches, the party progressed to the front of the building to view the ribbon cutting and to move on to touring the building.
