WestEast was engaged by Prairie View A&M University to extend the useful life of the buildings while modernizing to current ADA/TAS accessibility and life safety requirements.
Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were replaced and updated, toilet facilities were renovated, and sealent systems on the building’s exterior skin was replaced. A new Public Safety Building was also added to replace the existing police station on campus.
The existing Hobart Taylor, Wilhelmina Delco, and William Nicks buildings received architectural improvements to satisfy occupant’s needs per Texas Accessibility Standards, MEP upgrades of outdated systems, Fire & Life Safety code upgrades, and deferred maintenance items. The new Public Safety building will meet the requirements of the Texas Police Chiefs Association Recognition Program and address deficiencies identified through a peer review process.
