The Project

In spring 2023, Texas A&M University-San Antonio (TAMUSA) unveiled a notable campus landmark, the Library and College of Business. This significant structure blends historical and geographical influences, housing the campus Library and the College of Business under a unified roof. The design incorporates stone and glass elements to meet the campus character and establish distinct identities. This atmosphere fosters a communal environment where students can study, socialize, and collaborate.

The Methodology

The project originated from the pressing need of a rapidly expanding campus. Its growing student body had outgrown the single existing library. Notably, most future TAMUSA students represent the first generation in their families to attend college. WestEast was commissioned for Design & FF&E, contributing to the area’s evolution from a once-undervalued neighborhood into a thriving educational and residential hub.

The Result

The Library and College of Business adds to the communal aspect of the campus, providing students with lounge areas, study rooms, and social gathering areas for collaboration.
