The Project

This college dorm project focuses on the furniture selection and design for student suites, lounges, staff offices, and the lobby. The goal is to create comfortable and functional spaces that enhance student life, promoting both gathering and studying. The design encompasses four floors and two wings, incorporating lounges, study rooms, quiet areas, interactive spaces, and reading nooks to cater to a variety of student needs.

The Methodology

To achieve a harmonious balance between the building’s sharp angles and the furniture design, WestEast prioritized selecting pieces with fluid and softer edges. This approach contrasts the architectural harshness while fostering a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, WestEast enhanced the visual appeal by incorporating vibrant colors and textured textiles that remain durable and stain-resistant, ensuring longevity in a high-traffic environment. Custom reception and integrated seating solutions were developed specifically for this space, emphasizing a timeless and clean aesthetic.

The Result

The outcome is a thoughtfully designed environment that not only meets the functional requirements of students and staff but also encourages interaction and relaxation. The careful selection of furniture and spaces reflects a commitment to thoughtful design, fostering a sense of community while facilitating both collaborative and individual study. Overall, the design promotes an engaging and supportive atmosphere that enriches the college experience.
