The City of San Antonio has engaged WestEast Design Group to provide interior improvements within the Henry B. González Convention Center, focusing primarily on carpet replacement throughout over 800,000 square feet of space—including ballrooms, corridors, and meeting rooms—and painting wall surfaces as needed. The goal of the project is to create a cohesive, refreshed interior aesthetic that reflects the City’s vision while enhancing functionality, durability, and visual appeal across all areas of the convention center.

WestEast Design Group began by analyzing the existing architectural features of the Henry B. González Convention Center to ensure the new design complemented and unified the overall interior. The quatrefoil motif, found throughout the facility, served as the foundation for the carpet concept. Five design options were created, blending traditional shapes with modern, flowing lines inspired by natural elements. Neutral background tones and brushed textures were chosen to create a timeless look while helping to conceal wear and stains in high-traffic areas.

The completed project will provide a cohesive, refreshed interior that enhances the experience within the convention center. The new carpet design will unify ballrooms, corridors, and meeting rooms while preserving each area’s unique character. The combination of the quatrefoil motif and abstract lines will create a balanced design that feels both traditional and contemporary. Neutral color palettes and durable textures will ensure long-lasting appearance and performance, even under heavy use. Updated wall finishes will complement the flooring, creating a consistent and elegant aesthetic throughout the space. Overall, the result will reflect the City’s vision for a modernized, sophisticated, and functional convention center environment.
